Lord Sri Dattatreya is incarnation of Lord Sri Hari, Lord Sri Shiva and Lord Sri Brahma in combined form. With HIM are four divine dogs and the divine cow. The four divine dogs with HIM represent four vedas and the divine cow represents mother earth. He is Guru incarnation to remove ignorance (agjyanam) from humans and give knowledge about Self and our connection with almighty and how to attain HIM. HE is considered as pure Guru avatara revealing pure knowledge about self and about this universe. He is considered as chirancheevi - that is ever living person. He has come down to earth as many gurus from time to time to save humans and for them to attain mukthi. Our humble namaskarams or obeisance to Lord Sri Dattatreya.
